GWR 12inch drop dial clock Ex Merthyr Tidfil

A very unusual GWR octagonal faced drop dial clock with pendulum viewing window. An attractive and unusual version of the more common GWR drop dial clock. The original dial is lettered ‘G.W.R.’ in the pre-grouping block style. The quality English fusee movement has shaped shoulders, cut-out feet and turned pillars, recently cleaned and oiled the mechanism runs well and keeps good time. The rear of the dial and the back box are both marked ‘Merthyr’. There is also evidence of a GWR ivorine identification tag, probably removed when the clock entered private ownership.
